Anti-occupation shirt costs DC waitress, Pistorius’ father sparks #IblametheANC satire (by AlJazeeraEnglish)
A waitress’s political beliefs cost her a decent tip on Monday, as the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) convened in Washington, DC. Her customers at the local restaurant Busboys and Poets were apparently bothered the anti-occupation t-shirt worn by their waitress, Nuria Kalifa-Jackson. In response, they left behind an AIPAC brochure, as well as a note that read, “Displaying your political beliefs on your shirt cost you a [per cent] of your tip.”
The shirt Kalifa-Jackson was wearing is sold by Codepink, an organisation which describes itself as “a women-initiated grassroots peace and social justice movement to end U.S. funded wars and occupations and challenge militarism globally”. The t-shirt is sold at a shop that is located inside the Busboys and Poets restaurant.
